Which fictional world would be the most fun to vacation in?
I’d like to go on a vacation on the Alpha planet from Asimov’s novel Foundation and Earth. Golan Trevize, Janov Pelorat, and Bliss visit the planet Alpha (orbiting Alpha Centauri) as part of their search for humanity’s ancestral home in Isaac Asimov’s novel Foundation and Earth.
Upon entering the Alpha system, the travelers discover that the habitable planet is entirely covered by water, except for a single inhabited island called New Earth. Around 25,000 people live on this island.
The locals seem extremely welcoming; they organize a festival featuring acoustic and traditional music and dancing, and the visitors from outer space are drawn into the festivities. That is, until they discover a disturbing detail that causes them to leave the planet Alpha in a hurry.
I’d love to spend a vacation in that world, but without going through what happened to Trevize, Pelorat, and Bliss. I won’t give away any details, but I invite you to read the book!
